I wasn't addicted per se but I was definitely heading down the road. My health was really suffering with a huge work load balanced with poor eating, dropping exercise, many wines over business lunches followed by 3 day benders where I couldn't stop. This then turned into needing a drink often after work to relax. It was self created burn out. I needed to stop and I hadn't really stopped for years. My job, newborn baby and wife were being affected and I felt lifeless trying to work through a fog of hang overs always promising to stop but couldn't. Rehab wasn't what I needed yet I wanted more than just a fitness retreat. I craved a detox. Then I found Alive.
Their original assessment is mind blowing. You get to see in black and white all that is really going on that you are not aware of. which for me was a life long pattern of over giving and anxiety I didn't know was there.
The program was perfect for me and exactly what I needed to focus on which to my surprise wasn't just a detox - it was many areas of my life and how I treated myself I'd never really considered. I did the 10 day intensive and continued with my support coach back at home. Their high performance program for execs is powerful and they really nail it with every aspect of their treatment. I've always been interested in personal development and now I use all the tools I learned with my team and company without feeling like a fraud.
One of the first things we discussed was 'what would life look like if I woke up healthy and happy everyday'. At the time it seemed impossible. I still work at the same level in fact I have achieved more in 6 months than I did in the 3 years prior - yet I am not burnt out. This is not just a detox.
